Blog Post #6- Silent Questions

May 19th, 2008 by anthony3

2. The definition of prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling before hand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. I haven’t really experienced it but i have seen it a lot around me. People get judged everyday right in front of you. Especially based on their race or sex. When people use it sexual it can really hurt someone and also make them very embarassed. If I saw someone that was getting harassed based on religion, race, or sex I would stop it right then. No one deserves to be treated in that kind of way no matter what  they have done. I think it is the most discriminating thing you can do to a person.

3. The neighborhood I grew up on was on North 34th street in Springfield, Oregon. It wasnt the best neighborhood. There were drugs all around the neighborhood. People were selling and using them. There was always good time though also. Like playing basketball with my neighbors. Some of my neighbors would be scared to walk down the street. All of the people weren’t friendly. Even though it wasn’t a great neighborhood  think it made me stronger living there my whole life.

5. The word justice means the quality of being just. The most unjust thing i have seen is in my old neighborhood my neighbors werent treated very good at all. They were nice people and the were hispanic. Well some of the punk drug using kids thought it would be funny to right beaner on their house, and they did. It made the family move away. It’s not fair at all to that family that they had to move away because they didn’t feel safe or wanted in a neighborhood. It was really messed up. I will never forget it.

Blog Post # 5 House Fire

April 25th, 2008 by anthony3

September 11th 2002 started out a good day at school. After school my dad picked my sister and I up. We were about half-way home when my dad got a phone call from his boss saying that our neighbor had called and said that our house had caught on fire. “My boss called and said our gouse is on fire!” said my dad. At first we thought it was a joke. That is until we turned down the street and saw poice cars, fire trucks, and an ambulence right in front of our house.

My kitchen and my room’s ceilings had collapsed. Luckily the fire didn’t get into the garage where my dad’s Bronco and my dirt bike was. The people across the street were saying that fire was shooting out of our roof like a cannon. I will never forget the smell of my burned down house.

We stayed with my grandparents for a few days until the insurence company found us a place to stay. We stayed in a two-story townhouse. It was actually in a better neighborhood than our house was in. It was hard to move out knowing that our house was destroyed. But it made me feel a lot better knowing that we would get a brand new house.

It took about two months for my house to be rebuilt. It was the longest two months of my life it seemed. The townhouse was really nice and we got brand new everything, but it still just wasn’t home. When our house was rebuilt we got brand new everything replacing what we had lost in the fire. It took about a week for us to move back in. It was really nice to be back in our house again. We moved in in November right before Thanksgiving. So we had Thanksgiving at our house that year. I will never forget September 11th 2002. The most dramatic day of my life.

Blog Post #4- Text Messaging

April 11th, 2008 by anthony3

I use text messaging a lot so i like it. It is a good way of communicating and its fast. If you dont want to call someone you can just text them. I probably send around 500 texts a day. I text probably around ten people in a day. Sometimes less sometimes more. I think it could effect how someone write beacause people get use to not spelling the whole word and might do that in a writing project or something but it doesn’t effect me at all. Text messaging is everywhere now. Just about everyone uses it so i thing that it is a big part of our society. I dont think texting has a big effect on face-to-face communication. Its just a fast and easy way of communicating.

Blog Post # 2-Blogs

April 4th, 2008 by anthony3

To me a blog is somewhere where you can write about certain subjects that you want to share. I have mostly heard of blogs just from myspace. I am very comfortable with computers. I have always been good with computers. Usually I only use my computer for myspace and my e-mail. Sometimes I use it for class papers also. I think writing is a good way of expressing how you feel. I like to write about mostly things that have happened to me or things that i have done. There are really weird people on the internet and they could get you information and stalk you. For the most part the internet isn’t dangerous but I guess it can be. From what i know my peers just use the computer for myspace. I feel like Bloging is a good way of writing in Lit class so I am glad we are using blogs

Blog Post #1 Independent Reading Selection

March 20th, 2008 by anthony3

The book that i am reading is called Thinner by Stephen King. I wanted to red this book because all of Stephen King’s books are really interesting and kind of creepy. It is about a guy who always having voices in his head about the word thinner because he is overweight. There is also a girl in the story that is having problems with people at her school an she is getting picked on. Then her dad goes to the school after all the kids were gone. Im not sure what he did though.
